I’ll be back

//www.smh.com.au/news/world/governator-recruits-bracks/2007/05/05/1177788469336.htmlWell, maybe not the best title for this post but since it’s about The Governator, Arnold Schwarzenegger, I couldn’t resist. Great too that I can report on another story from Down Under. In a surprising partnership, the Governor of California and the Victorian Premier, Steve Bracks, have their sights set on terminating global warming. Bracks schlepped it over to the US to meet up with Arnie and sign a memorandum of understanding to share environmental expertise.

I’m a bit of a fan of Arnie’s but when he turned politician, I wasn’t so sure (memories of the Reagan era I guess). But Arnie has shown he’s committed to reducing carbon emissions and has set a target for California of 80% by 2050. Steve Bracks has set a similar target of cutting emissions by 60% before 2050 (yes, well let’s hope we’re all still around by then to see if this happens). Both the states of Victoria and California have recently witnessed devastating bushfires and droughts due to climate change.

Let’s hope the dynamic duo can say “hasta la vista, baby” to global warming (sorry!). I’ve pinched the photo accompanying this post as I love to see Arnie in action, complete with that knuckle-duster of a ring he wears (Source: AP. SMH May 6 2007)
